Introduction to the Course

English 099 at Heartland Community College

English 099 provides additional support for developmental students taking English 101.  This course is offered concurrently with 101 — typically, I'll teach an English 101 course with up to 22 students, and up to 11 of those students will also take my section of 099.

What We Do: Reflection and Discussion

A key focus of English 099 is reflection.  Through five learning journals, you'll consider your progress in English 101.  During much of our class time, I'll ask about your thoughts on the English 101 lessons, and then we'll discuss additional strategies as the writing and research concepts to your 101 assignments.
